Orbis The Common Signal

Orbis is a shared orbit for live performance, broadcast, deep listening, and cultural exchange. Built by TheGRIN.io, it brings artists, audiences, and ideas into signal together — across music, moving image, conversation, experimentation, and public encounter.

Live Signal

Performances, sessions, and hybrid sets where artists test new forms in real time — from club-rooted electronics to cross-disciplinary improvisation.

Broadcast Signal

Radio, moving image, interviews, and digital transmissions that carry the energy of the room outward into a wider network.

Shared Orbit

A meeting point for communities, institutions, thinkers, and makers — where local scenes and global conversations can move side by side.

What is Orbis?

Orbis is TheGRIN.io’s platform for building collective signal. It is designed as a flexible format rather than a fixed container: part performance space, part broadcast environment, part editorial frame, part public invitation.

At its core, Orbis responds to a simple idea: in a fragmented world, we need stronger ways of gathering. Not just to consume culture, but to experience it together — live, in motion, in conversation, and in relation.

Music sits at the centre, but Orbis is not limited to music alone. It opens out into visual culture, technology, storytelling, dialogue, archives, and futures-thinking. It is a platform where sound can meet image, performance can meet reflection, and experimentation can meet access.

How Orbis moves

1. Gather Bring artists, communities, and collaborators into the same field — physically, digitally, or both.
2. Transmit Broadcast the moment through radio, video, interviews, and live documentation so the signal travels beyond the room.
3. Reflect Create space for conversation, interpretation, and context around the work — not just presentation, but meaning.
4. Archive Build a living record through edits, extracts, sessions, writing, and future-facing documentation.

What it can hold

Orbis can take shape as live broadcasts, studio sessions, listening events, hybrid performances, artist conversations, public workshops, moving-image commissions, or site-responsive encounters.

The format stays open by design. Each orbit can be tuned differently depending on the artists, the context, the audience, and the signal we want to send.

Think: performance as transmission, documentation as culture, broadcast as gathering, and archive as future memory.

Signals we’re tracking

Orbis moves through a wider editorial universe. These are some of the key signals shaping its direction.

The New Collectives

New forms of collaboration, collective intelligence, and scene-building across disciplines, cities, and networks.

Improvisation in the Age of AI

Human-machine dialogue, live electronic performance, and the creative tension between systems and intuition.

Worlds We Build

Artists shaping new realities through sound, image, code, virtual space, and future-facing cultural design.

Diaspora Dialogues

Global connections, cultural movement, and the ways diasporic exchange continues to shape contemporary sound.

Why it matters

Orbis is about creating conditions for meaningful encounter — where art, sound, ideas, and people can move through a common signal.

Not content for content’s sake. Not noise for the algorithm. A deeper orbit. A more intentional transmission.

Join the orbit

Orbis is open to artists, curators, producers, technologists, cultural organisations, and partners who want to build ambitious, thoughtful, and future-facing public culture together.
